The S&B Cold Air Intake for 2017–2023 GM L5P Duramax 6.6L delivers a 47.7% airflow increase over the factory setup with a 99.38% efficiency rating. If your L5P feels soft on the throttle or you want your intake keeping up with a performance tune, this is the bolt-on answer.
GM built the L5P to be a high-output stock diesel, but the factory airbox wasn't designed with performance in mind — it pulls warm air from the engine bay and chokes peak airflow during hard pulls. The S&B swaps that out for a fully enclosed, high-flow sealed system. A silicon hood scoop seal blocks hot engine air from the intake path, so your turbo gets cooler, denser air and comes on boost faster with less lag.
The big advantage here is that it keeps your factory MAF sensor in its stock location, so the ECM reads a completely normal signal — no check engine lights, and no tune required just to run the intake. You also get better protection than stock thanks to that 99.38% filtration efficiency, with your choice of oiled or dry filter and multiple airflow configurations. Installation is fully bolt-on: no cutting, no welding, no specialty tools.
Fitment covers 2017 through 2023 Silverado and Sierra trucks with the 6.6L L5P Duramax, in all pickup trims, cab styles, and box lengths. It does not fit Cab & Chassis trucks.
