The 2007.5–2010 LMM generation introduced Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) systems and tighter emissions controls, so the factory airbox was designed around emissions compliance rather than peak airflow. That housing restricts incoming air volume during high-demand situations, and under tow or running a tune, that restriction costs power.

The S&B intake replaces the restrictive OEM airbox with a sealed, high-flow enclosure that isolates intake air from engine heat. The 53.06% airflow increase gives your turbo more to work with on every throttle input, so there's less lag and faster spool. It retains the stock MAF sensor location, so your ECM never sees anything out of the ordinary and there's no check engine light.
